Akta Pencegahan Jenayah (Pindaan dan Pemerluasan) 2013

Akta Pencegahan Jenayah (Pindaan dan Pemerluasan) 2013

The MCPF welcomes the Prevention of Crime Act 2013 (Amendment and Extension) which has been gazette and will be enforced tomorrow.

The enforcement of the amended legislation and its extension to Sabah and Sarawak is a clear indication of the Government’s commitment in the fight against organized crime in the country covering not only Peninsular Malaysia but also Sabah and Sarawak.

The passage of the amendments in Parliament in October last year and its implementation now is also in response to the concern of the Malaysian public towards organized and serious crimes and their desire in wanting to see more effective action by the Police to combat organized crime.

The MCPF in supporting the new legislation also calls on the authorities concerned to ensure that it is justly implemented in the interest of ensuring law and order in the country while taking into account the elements of human rights.

In this regard we are pleased to note that under the Amendments to the PCA there is a Crime Prevention Board to be set up made up of fair-minded and competent members to be appointed by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

The crime prevention board members are, we believe, persons of integrity and are able to act with fairness and they can play an independent role in ensuring the amendments to the Crime Prevention Act will be fairly implemented.
